Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek is an ideal trek experience for novice and young people. Also perfect for family with children who are on their first trekking or camping experience.

Rakaposhi is 7788m ( 25,551 ft ) Karakoram mountain is called ‘Queen of Mountains”. It is the 27th highest in the world. And is known for its prominence and beauty. The base camp unlike other Karakoram mountains is very accessible and hence is favourite among hikers and first time trekkers.

The whole trek can be completed in one day depending on your ability and experience but many people choose to stay overnight. Before starting the trip keep your essentials like water bottles and sunscreen in a light bag-pack with you, any good hiking shoes will be fine for the trek, shops on the KKH before the beginning of trek will provide local snacks and food items.

Minapin village ( 2000 M) is a small village on the KKH and the starting of trek route has been cleared in recent years by the Government to make it very easy for people to find car parking, camping spot or start their trek. From Minapin, it takes maximum 3-4 hours trek to reach the grassy meadows of Hapakun.

From Hapakun the trail is steep and it take 3 hours maximum to reach Tagaphari aka Rakaposhi Base Camp maximum elevation at this point is 3300m.

Here you have the option to go further and climb the ridge to get a nice view of Hunza Valley and surrounding mountains. Most people usually return at this point and head to their hotels.

The second option is to trek across the Katchelly glacier to Diran Base Camp 3700 M and Katchelly Lake 4000 M and takes around 3-4 hrs to walk on moraine and Glacier. This will require an overnight camp or stay also depending on your walk and speed.
